Cardiac Telehealth Consultations
Distance, mobility, work or caring responsibilities should not stand between you and specialist heart care. Our cardiac telehealth service lets you consult with a Yarrabilba Cardiology & Specialist Centre cardiologist by video or phone, with the same specialist, the same clinical standards and the same detailed reporting back to your GP as an in-clinic appointment.
Telehealth works particularly well for follow-up reviews, discussing test results, medication adjustments and ongoing management of stable conditions. Your cardiologist will always advise if your situation needs an in-person assessment instead.

Who Telehealth Consultations Suit
- Patients in outlying areas of our catchment, such as Jimboomba, Tamborine, Logan Village and surrounding rural communities
- Patients with limited mobility, or who rely on others for transport
- Follow-up reviews where an examination is not required on the day
- Discussing results of tests such as echocardiograms, Holter monitors or CT scans
- Medication reviews and ongoing management of stable heart conditions
- Patients balancing work or carer duties who cannot easily attend during clinic hours
When You Will Need to Attend in Person
Telehealth has real limits, and we are upfront about them:
- All diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, ECGs, Holter fittings and blood pressure monitor fittings, require a visit to the clinic
- New or changing symptoms that need physical examination
- Any situation where your cardiologist judges that an in-person assessment is clinically necessary
If you develop severe chest pain, sudden breathlessness or symptoms of a heart attack, call 000. Telehealth is not an emergency service.

Medicare Rebates for Telehealth
Medicare rebates are available for eligible specialist telehealth consultations, and eligibility depends on factors such as your referral and the type of consultation. Our reception team will confirm whether your telehealth appointment attracts a rebate, whether bulk billing applies in your case, and any out-of-pocket cost, all before your appointment so there are no surprises.
Cardiac Telehealth FAQs
Yes. A valid GP referral is required for Medicare rebates, exactly as for an in-person specialist appointment.
Bulk billing may be available for eligible patients. Our reception team will confirm your eligibility and any costs when you book.
For video consultations, a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection is enough. If video is not practical, a phone consultation can often be arranged.
A physical examination cannot be done remotely, which is why telehealth suits reviews and results discussions best. If examination or testing is needed, an in-person appointment will be arranged.
Sometimes, depending on the reason for referral. Many first consultations benefit from an in-person examination, so our team will advise what suits your referral when you book.
For the right appointment types, such as reviews, results and medication discussions, telehealth delivers the same specialist input. For anything requiring examination or testing, in-person care remains necessary, and we will always tell you which applies to you.
Book a Telehealth Consultation
